Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology
KITI-IWM Kothmale is a state training institute registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, accredited to run this Higher National Diploma programme. Unmarried Sri Lankan citizens are being invited to apply for the 3-year, full-time course — made up of a 2-year residential academic phase followed by a 1-year field training placement.
🎓 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
✅ G.C.E. (O/L) passed in a single sitting with Credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil, English Language, Mathematics, and Science
✅ 3 subjects from the Mathematics stream passed at G.C.E. (A/L) in one sitting
✅ Under 25 years of age as of the closing date, and in good mental and physical health
📝 HOW CANDIDATES ARE SELECTED
🕐 Shortlisted applicants sit a competitive Aptitude Test (1½ hours), followed by an interview
🏆 Final selection is based on combined marks from the written test and the interview

📎 Upload scanned PDFs of your O/L and A/L certificates to confirm your qualifications, and a scanned copy of your birth certificate to confirm your age

📌 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING
🗣️ Classes are conducted entirely in English
💰 Course costs are covered by the Government, and accommodation is provided by the institute — though trainees cover their own food, medical and personal expenses
✍️ Selected trainees sign an agreement to follow the institute's discipline and complete the full training period
🏥 A medical check-up is required at the time of registration
⚠️ Withdrawing before completion means repaying the government's training costs — a guarantee agreement covers this
🎓 Successful trainees receive an NVQ Level 6 diploma, based on annual, semester-end and final assessments — though the Ministry and institute don't guarantee a job afterward
🚫 Applicants cannot be currently enrolled in any other higher education course
