๐ Who Can Apply — Qualifications
Applicants need to hold one of the following at the time of the closing date:
- • First/Second Class degree from a recognized foreign or UGC-recognized state university
- • First/Second Class degree from a Sri Lankan university under Parliament Act
- • Degree recognized under Section 25A of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 (min. 3-year programme)
- • Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka
- • Chartered Accountant
Age limit: 22–28 years (general applicants); up to 35 years for existing Public/Provincial Service officers, per Gazette conditions.

Candidates must clear the 40-mark threshold in every paper to qualify. Papers may be answered in Sinhala, Tamil or English — one medium only, fixed at the time of application.

- Go to the Department of Examinations online application portal
- Select the Inland Revenue Service Grade III Exam 2026
- Download and review the application instruction sheet
- Fill in the application in English, with accurate personal & academic details
- Choose your exam medium — Sinhala, Tamil, or English
- Pay the Rs. 1,200 fee via an approved payment method
- Submit before 31 August 2026, 11.59 PM, and save a printed copy
Important: Public/Provincial Service officers must forward a copy of their application to their Head of Institution. Examination fees, once paid, are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another exam. Incomplete applications risk rejection.
